The Kano State Government has called on former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Baffa Abdullahi Bichi to prioritize his health rather than baseless political blackmail of the present administration
The government challenged the former SSG to provide concrete evidence to support his recent allegations of corruption against the administration.
At a news conference in his office, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, dismissed Dr. Bichi’s claims, reminding him that, one of his closest Aide was arrested on alleged corruption and the matter is still in court.
Waiya revealed that there is documented evidence of gross misconduct during Dr. Bichi’s previous tenure as the head of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), which allegedly prompted the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari to relieve him of his duties at the time, asking him to seek forgiveness from Nigerians
“The former SSG should understand that his removal was not solely based on health concerns, but also due to alleged corruption-related issues, including the diversion of hundreds of bags of rice linked to his aide, a matter that is still before the court,” Waiya stated.
He advised Dr. Bichi to focus on his personal well-being rather than engaging in what he described as “unnecessary political rivalry.”
“Even our colleagues from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), after thorough investigations, have not uncovered any corruption within Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration. This is in contrast to the previous government, which faced multiple corruption allegations,” Waiya added.
The Commissioner urged the people of Kano State to reflect critically on why Dr. Bichi failed to raise these allegations while he was still in office, suggesting that his silence at the time raises questions about the credibility of his recent claims.
