One Kano Agenda Hails Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s Historic ₦1.368 Trillion 2026 Budget
1. One Kano Agenda proudly celebrates His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on the presentation of the ₦1.368 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill, which stands as one of the most courageous, visionary, and people centered budgets in the history of Kano State. The sheer scale and clarity of purpose embedded in this fiscal document reflect a government that understands the urgency of rebuilding Kano, correcting years of neglect, restoring public trust, and setting the state on a path of sustainable progress.
2. For the first time in our state’s history, the budget directs an extraordinary 68% allocation to capital expenditure, a clear demonstration that Governor Yusuf is not only committed to governance but to transformation. The prioritization of critical sectors such as Education with ₦405.3 billion, Infrastructure with ₦346.2 billion, and Health with ₦212.2 billion shows a leadership that is not afraid to make bold decisions, invest heavily in the future, and confront longstanding developmental deficiencies head on. These allocations are not mere figures; they represent the rebuilding of schools, equipping of hospitals, improvement of roads, expansion of water access, and the strengthening of the foundation on which future generations of Kano will stand.
3. One Kano Agenda believes that this budget is more than an appropriation, it is a statement of intent, a roadmap of recovery, and a signal that Kano is ready to rise again. It demonstrates responsible governance, strategic foresight, and a deep understanding of the socioeconomic realities facing our people. It also reaffirms the Governor’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and delivering value for every naira spent.
4. We equally acknowledge and commend the Governor’s firm and uncompromising stance on security. At a time when parts of the country remain under the grip of banditry, terrorism, and violent crimes, the Governor’s categorical declaration that criminals and bandits have no refuge, no base, and no operational ground in Kano State is bold, timely, and reassuring. The renewed synergy between the state government, security agencies, local intelligence networks, and community vigilante formations has not only deterred criminal activities but has strengthened confidence among citizens and sent a clear message that Kano will never succumb to the forces of chaos and insecurity.
5. The security of life and property is the bedrock of meaningful development, and One Kano Agenda applauds the proactive investments the government continues to make in surveillance systems, patrol logistics, local intelligence, and inter-agency collaboration. These efforts must be sustained, expanded, and supported by all stakeholders, as no state can thrive without peace and stability.
6. As a movement deeply rooted in unity, civic engagement, and collective progress, One Kano Agenda calls on all youths, civil society organizations, community associations, traditional institutions, policy advocates, and political actors, regardless of party affiliation to put the interest of Kano above all personal or partisan considerations. The future of our state is too important to be sacrificed on the altar of political rivalry or needless division. This is a defining moment when every well-meaning citizen must rise above sentiment and work hand in hand with the government to translate this historic budget into real gains for the people.
7. We encourage youths to become active watchdogs, monitoring the implementation of projects, promoting responsible civic behavior, and contributing positively to the peace and development of their communities. We urge CSOs to engage constructively, track progress, advocate for transparency, and complement government efforts through community mobilization and public enlightenment. Likewise, we call on the private sector, religious bodies, and professional associations to collaborate with the government in ensuring that this budget delivers maximum impact.
8. The 2026 budget is a collective victory. It is a victory for the students who deserve better classrooms and quality teachers. It is a victory for the farmers who need improved access to markets and modern agricultural support. It is a victory for women and young people seeking economic empowerment. It is a victory for traders, artisans, workers, and all residents of Kano who have long yearned for a government that listens and responds.
9. One Kano Agenda calls on the Kano State House of Assembly to give this Appropriation Bill the urgent, thorough, and patriotic consideration it deserves. The timely passage of the budget will ensure that key projects begin immediately and that the people of Kano can start experiencing the benefits of this historic fiscal plan without delay.
10. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting visionary leadership, promoting unity, and mobilizing citizens toward a more peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous Kano State. The progress of Kano is our shared responsibility, and together, we will build a state that stands as a model for development, peace, and good governance in Nigeria.
Kano is one. Kano is united. Kano is moving forward.
