A Magistrate Court No. 2 sitting in Nomansland, Kano State, presided over by Magistrate Auwalu Yusuf, has arraigned two businessmen Alhaji Shafiu Umar of Rijiyar Zaki and Alhaji Muhammad Sunusi over alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating, and breach of trust.
The defendants were accused of conspiring and defrauding a businessman, Alhaji Adam, of about ₦27 million.
After the charges were read, the defendants pleaded not guilty. The prosecution, however, applied for the remand of the first defendant, Alhaji Shafiu Umar, pending further investigation and continuation of the case.
Magistrate Auwalu Yusuf granted the prosecution’s request and ordered that Alhaji Shafiu be remanded in a correctional facility, while the case was adjourned to October 10th for continuation of hearing.
