Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Appoints 19 New Permanent Secretaries, Redeploys 14 Others
KANO – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has approved the appointment of nineteen (19) new Permanent Secretaries and the redeployment of fourteen (14) serving Permanent Secretaries across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the Kano State Civil Service.
The appointments, which take immediate effect, are aimed at strengthening the state's public service and enhancing effective service delivery across government institutions.
Among the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Muhammad Sani Suleiman (Policy and Administration, Government House), Bashir Yusuf Al-Awwal (Acting Permanent Secretary, Policy and Strategy Directorate, Government House), Bashir Ado Gaya (AGS, Deputy Governor's Office), Dr. Sani Lawan Gwarzo (Special Duties Directorate, Deputy Governor's Office), Abdulkadir Shehu (Ministry of Health, effective September 20, 2026), Umma Dallatu (Ministry of Planning and Budget), Muhammad Musbahu Yahuza (Ministry of Land and Physical Planning), Rabi Ibrahim Waya (Ministry of Livestock Development), Hauwa Nuhu Wali (Ministry of Religious Affairs), Dr. Halima Ibrahim Mukhtar (Ministry of Investment and Commerce), Uwani Ahmad Balarabe (Ministry for Special Duties), Tsoho Aliyu Rogo (Ministry of Information), Engr. Dauda Garba (Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy), Idris Lawan Shanono (Ministry of Youth and Sports), Umma Abbas Sunusi (Ministry of Culture and Tourism), Aishatu Abdulkadir (Ministry of Women, Children and Disabled), Hannatu Ado Gwaram (SERVICOM Directorate), Nura Abba Dandago (Council of Emirs), and Rabi Inuwa Hussain (Kano Educational Resources Directorate).
The Governor also approved the redeployment of fourteen serving Permanent Secretaries to various strategic positions within the civil service. The redeployments are intended to optimize administrative efficiency and align experienced officers with key government priorities.
Governor Yusuf congratulated the newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, describing their appointments as well-deserved and a call to greater responsibility and selfless service to the people of Kano State.
He urged both the newly appointed and redeployed Permanent Secretaries to demonstrate diligence, professionalism, integrity and accountability in the discharge of their duties, while working closely with their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies to advance the administration's development agenda.
The Governor expressed confidence in their capacity to justify the trust reposed in them and called on them to uphold the core values of the Kano State Civil Service through excellence, transparency and innovation.
According to the approval, all handing-over and taking-over processes are to be completed on or before Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
