Kano Government Reaffirms Commitment to Rehabilitating Over 1,600 Reformed Youths Under Safe Corridor Programme

‎Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to rehabilitating youths who have abandoned thuggery, saying they possess great potential to contribute meaningfully to society if given the right opportunities.

‎The State Commissioner for Information and Home Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this known during a reception held to welcome some of the youths who recently renounced thuggery and pledged to embrace peace.
‎
‎According to the commissioner, more than 1,600 youths have been screened for inclusion in the government’s Safe Corridor Programme, while an additional 2,100 youths are expected to join the amnesty initiative soon.
‎
‎He explained that after the screening and orientation process, the beneficiaries would be presented to the governor to receive financial and vocational support packages designed to help them become self-reliant and productive members of society.

‎Comrade Waiya assured that the government would continue to support and empower youths who have demonstrated genuine repentance and good character, noting that their reintegration into the community aligns with the state’s broader peace and security agenda.
‎
‎Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aliyu Harazimi urged the reformed youths to remain steadfast in their commitment to positive moral conduct, emphasizing that discipline and integrity are essential virtues that prevent individuals from returning to criminal behavior.
‎
‎This marks the third engagement between the Commissioner for Information and internal affairs under the Safe Corridor Peace Committee, as part of the government’s ongoing dialogue to ensure that promises made to the beneficiaries are fully implemented.
