NUJ Information Chapel, LG Information Officers Honour Two Retiring Directors for Meritorious Service
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Information Chapel, in collaboration with the Kano State Local Government Information Officers Forum, has honoured the Director of Information, Alhaji Idris Inuwa Yakasai, and the Director of Public Enlightenment, Alhaji Idris Zakariyau, with Meritorious Service Awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions to public service and information management in the state.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, commended the two retiring directors for their dedication, professionalism, and selfless service to the ministry. He noted that their exemplary conduct and commitment to duty had greatly contributed to the success and progress of the ministry.
Comrade Waiya described the honourees as seasoned professionals whose wealth of experience remains invaluable to the ministry, assuring that the government will continue to engage them for consultation and mentorship roles.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to capacity building and staff development to enhance effective service delivery, noting that the ongoing reform of the ministry is aimed at strengthening information dissemination and institutional efficiency.
In their goodwill messages, the Director of Internal Affairs, Alhaji Usman Bello; the Chairman, NUJ Information Chapel, Malam Musbahu Aminu Yakasai; and the Chairman, Kano State Local Government Information Officers Forum, Malam Jamilu Mustapha Yakasai, described the two directors as exemplary leaders who mentored many officers and contributed immensely to the ministry’s achievements. They added that the awards were well-deserved in recognition of the directors’ decades of meritorious service.
Responding, the award recipients Alhaji Idris Inuwa Yakasai, who also serves as the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, and Alhaji Idris Zakariyau expressed deep appreciation to the NUJ Information Chapel and the Local Government Information Officers Forum for the honour. They encouraged staff to remain dedicated, pursue further education, and strive for excellence in their professional responsibilities.
The retiring directors also commended the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs for his support and for providing a conducive working environment that fostered teamwork and productivity. They further appreciated the cordial working relationship they enjoyed with all staff of the ministry and pledged to continue supporting its developmental goals.
The Commissioner, supported by the Chairman of the NUJ Information Chapel, presented the Meritorious Service Awards to the two directors.
In addition, the two former Chairmen of the Kano State Local Government Information Officers Forum, who also retired from service Alhaji Sagir Abdullahi Kwanar Huguma and Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Sani Gwarzo were presented with Awards of Excellence during the occasion.
