The Ministry of Water Resources successfully organized a special Quiz Competition as part of the activities marking the 2025 World Toilet Day Celebration. The event brought together students from various secondary schools to deepen their understanding of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and to encourage a culture of cleanliness within their respective communities.
The programme commenced with opening remarks delivered by Mustapha Hassan, the Desk Officer, WASH, Ministry of Water Resources. In his address, he highlighted the importance of educating young people on sanitation practices and the role they play in promoting healthy environments.
This was followed by a brief but insightful presentation by Mallam Aminu DZ from NEWSAN, who spoke on the significance of WASH in communities. He emphasized how proper sanitation, access to clean water, and good hygiene practices directly influence healthier living and community development.
Participating schools showcased impressive performances in the quiz competition. The results are as follows:
4th Position: GSS Sharada
3rd Position: Fatima Muhammad GGSS
2nd Position: Government Girls College (GGC) Dala
1st Position: ADSS Bukavu
The event was impactful and engaging, contributing significantly to raising awareness among students on the importance of WASH. The Ministry of Water Resources reaffirmed its commitment to continuous sensitization and community engagement in line with the vision of achieving a cleaner and healthier society.
