The Presidential Media Team has continued its nationwide inspection of projects under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a stop in Kano to assess critical federal and state-backed initiatives.
The tour, which commenced in the North-West region, saw the delegation move from Kaduna to Kano as part of a broader effort to showcase ongoing development projects across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
Speaking during the visit, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Community Engagement (North-West), Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, said the exercise was aimed at demonstrating the tangible impact of the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda.
He described the Cardiovascular Centre at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital as a landmark intervention, noting that the project was facilitated by the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, as part of his constituency initiatives.
“This is to show Nigerians that the Renewed Hope policies and legacies are real. The Cardiovascular Centre is an edifying project,” Yakasai stated.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, explained that the Kano leg followed similar inspections in Abuja and Kaduna, where several projects—including sections of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway—were assessed.
Dare disclosed that the team also inspected an energisation project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital—a solar farm implemented under the Energy Commission of Nigeria and facilitated by a member of the House of Representatives, Abubakar Abba Bichi.
According to him, the project is a four-megawatt hybrid solar installation, with plans for expansion, designed to provide stable electricity to critical hospital facilities. He added that similar solarisation initiatives are being replicated in key institutions, including Bayero University Kano.
“Across the world, solar energy is increasingly being adopted due to its eco-friendly nature. This administration is investing in clean energy to support critical institutions,” Dare said.
In the same vein, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital, Ortega Orga, noted that the initiative is designed to ensure uninterrupted power supply in essential facilities such as hospitals, schools, and universities, particularly addressing challenges in critical care units.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Government showcased its ongoing infrastructure drive, announcing plans to commission the Dan Agundi Flyover and Underpass within May.
The Commissioner for Works and Housing, Marwan Ahmad Aminu, said the project would significantly ease traffic congestion and boost economic activities.
“Dan Agundi is one of the busiest junctions in Kano. With this three-lane flyover and dedicated underpass, about 80 percent of traffic congestion will be resolved,” he explained.
He added that the project was funded through federal allocations and internally generated revenue, reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency and sustainable development.
The inspection tour also covered the Kwarin Gogau area, where a major urban renewal project is underway, as well as Day Science College Kano, which has undergone full renovation to improve educational standards and boost student enrollment.
The delegation further visited Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital, one of the recently completed healthcare facilities aimed at enhancing medical services in the state.
The tour underscores ongoing efforts by both federal and state governments to deliver critical infrastructure and social services, as authorities continue to highlight progress under current development initiatives.
Among those in attendance was Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, alongside key members of the Kano State Executive Council.
They included the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya; the Commissioner for Education, Gwani Ali Abubakar Makoda; and the Commissioner for Health, Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, among other top government officials, underscoring the significance of the inspection exercise.
