INFORMATION COMMISSIONER URGES IMAMS OF JUMMA'AT MOSQUES TO ADVOCATE FOR QUALITY LEADERSHIP
Kano State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has urged Imams of Jumma'at Mosques to advocate for quality leadership and complement the efforts of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in moving the state forward.
Waiya made the call on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by members of the Forum of Imams of Jumma'at Mosques in his office.
He said the people of Kano support the administration because of the Governor’s leadership qualities, and that what Kano now needs is a leadership style that serves the people, not the interest of a few individuals.
"It is high time for people in the state to decide what should be good for them and have leaders with determination to rule. They should have the right to select who is to govern the affairs of the state.
"Kano should not be ruled by few people whose ambition is to enrich themselves not the progress of our dear state" he stated
The Commissioner noted that the Governor has taken positive steps to ensure citizens have a say in who governs them.
He added that the Governor’s decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) was in the interest of the state, and that a lot has been achieved since the defection.
Waiya called on the Imams to use their sermons for public sensitization on the need to support quality leadership for development.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Forum, Gwani Sani Tilo, said the forum comprises members from Izala, Tijjaniyya and Qadiriyya movements united to support the Governor’s administration.
He cited the administration’s achievements and the just concluded mass wedding program as reasons for their continued support.
