The Independent Mirror reports that the vehicle conveying the athletes fell off a bridge on Saturday around 9 am, resulting in a devastating crash.
One of the contingent, Ado Salisu Gama, told that the incident occurred as the team approached their destination in Kano, after travelling overnight since Thursday night from Ogun State after the completion of the National Sports Festival.
Among the dead are athletes, journalists, medical personnel, driver others and administrators.
The Kano state among others state to participate in the concluded National Sports Festival in Ogun state, as the Kano contingent won 29 medals including gold, silver and bronze.
