The case surrounding the mysterious death of Taraba State University student, Comfort Jimtop, has taken another grim turn after the prime suspect, Emmanuel Kefas, was discovered dead under puzzling circumstances in Tudiri, Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Kefas, who had been under scrutiny for his alleged role in the demise of Jimtop — a 100-level Mass Communication student — was reportedly found lifeless on Saturday. His death has intensified public concern over the string of tragedies that has gripped both the Tudiri community and the university campus
Confirming the incident, Taraba State Police Command’s spokesperson, James Lashen, said the body was located following a tip-off from the village head of Tudiri. “A Tecno Android phone was recovered beside the corpse. Upon charging the device, investigators found a photograph showing the deceased with the late Comfort Jimtop, suggesting they were in a relationship,” Lashen revealed.
The body has since been transferred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jalingo, where an autopsy is expected to determine the exact cause of death. Police also stated that efforts are underway to contact Kefas’s family for proper identification.
At present, investigators have not ruled out suicide, foul play, or accident in Kefas’s death, leaving the circumstances open to speculation. The development has cast a fresh shadow over an already tragic case that has drawn widespread outrage and sympathy across Taraba State.
The deaths of both Comfort Jimtop and Emmanuel Kefas remain under investigation, with many unanswered questions still haunting the community and the university environment.
