A former Special Adviser on Public Affairs to ex-Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Abbati Bako, has warmly welcomed the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, into the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a historic step towards unity, stability, and accelerated development in Kano State.
In a statement made available to journalists, Abbati Bako expressed joy and optimism, noting that Governor Yusuf’s entry into the APC—the largest political party in Africa—signals a new chapter of reconciliation and collective responsibility for the progress of Kano State and Nigeria at large.
He commended Governor Yusuf, an engineer by profession and Governor since May 2023, for what he described as bold and people-oriented policies, particularly the declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector. According to him, the allocation of 30 percent of the state budget to education—well above UNESCO’s benchmark—has laid a strong foundation for the future of children from less privileged backgrounds.
Abbati Bako also praised the administration’s social and economic interventions, including solar-powered street lighting projects, the ₦50,000 monthly support scheme for 5,200 women entrepreneurs, the inclusion of former councillors across the 44 local government areas, and the long-overdue payment of pensioners’ benefits. He expressed confidence that outstanding entitlements, including those of former special advisers, would also be addressed.
The statement further highlighted ongoing road construction and rehabilitation projects across metropolitan and rural areas, noting that Governor Yusuf’s policies align closely with the reform agenda of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He recalled that the APC leadership in Kano, under the State Chairman Prince Abdullahi Abbas and former National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has consistently reiterated its readiness to receive Governor Yusuf with open arms, emphasizing that the call is driven by genuine unity rather than political calculation.
According to Abbati Bako, Governor Yusuf’s alignment with the APC will strengthen synergy in key sectors such as education, agriculture, healthcare, transportation, security, women empowerment, and infrastructure, while advancing the vision of building a “New Kano” comparable to emerging global cities in countries like Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt.
He expressed confidence that with Governor Yusuf in the APC, Kano State is poised to become a major commercial hub in Africa, adding that the 2027 general elections would be a smooth victory for the party in Kano and beyond.
Abbati Bako concluded by pledging total support and cooperation, stating that Kano State would shine brighter than ever before since its creation in 1967.
“Thank you, Your Excellency, and welcome home,” the statement read.
