The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects — Ibrahim Tijjani, Jamilu Auwal, and Mohammed Nura Dauda — over the alleged purchase of a Mercedes-Benz GLE using a fake bank alert.
The suspects were apprehended on January 28, 2026, at Kabuga Quarters in Kano, according to a statement issued on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa.
Kiyawa disclosed that the suspects allegedly bought the luxury vehicle in Gwarinpa, Abuja, for ₦75 million, after sending a fraudulent payment alert generated by one Ibrahim Yahaya, who is currently at large.
He said the vehicle has been recovered and handed over to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution of all parties involved.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and dedication, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security agency for swift action.
The Police Command assured residents of its continued commitment to tackling fraud and other criminal activities across the state.
