A 55-year-old man, Ibrahim Sodey, of Ring Road, Rijiyar Zaki Quarters, Kano, has been remanded in prison custody by Magistrate Court 34 sitting at Koki, Kano, over an alleged armed robbery incident.
The accused was arraigned before Senior Magistrate Faruku Ibrahim Umar for allegedly conspiring with other members of his syndicate who are currently at large.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred in December 2025 at about 5:00pm, when Ibrahim Sodey and his accomplices allegedly threatened the life of one Alhaji Muhammad Kabir, a resident of Airport Road, Kano.
They were said to have attacked the victim with dangerous weapons including a gun, cutlasses, and other sharp objects, putting him in fear of instant death before robbing him of an Android mobile phone, two identity cards, a native cap, and a pair of shoes. The total value of the items is yet to be ascertained.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
However, due to the nature of the offence, the court declined jurisdiction and ordered that the suspect be remanded in prison custody pending the filing of a proper charge by the prosecution before a competent court of jurisdiction.
The matter was adjourned accordingly.
