The Kano State Government has formally inaugurated a high-level committee to coordinate activities for the forthcoming celebration marking the third year anniversary of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The committee was inaugurated on behalf of the Governor by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, who also serves as Chairman of the committee. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Cabinet Office Conference Hall in Kano.
Speaking during the event, Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim said the committee was constituted to organize a befitting programme that would showcase the achievements and milestones recorded by the present administration within its first three years in office.
He emphasized the need for a comprehensive and impactful celebration capable of attracting prominent personalities from within and outside Kano State, noting that the administration has fulfilled a significant number of its campaign promises across critical sectors.
The SSG explained that the anniversary celebration would provide an avenue to highlight the giant strides recorded by the Gida Gida administration in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, environment, rural development, and good governance.
He also stressed the importance of adequate publicity and documentation of the activities, revealing that a detailed commemorative brochure capturing the achievements of the administration would be produced as part of efforts to preserve the memories of the landmark celebration.
Among members of the committee is the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, alongside other top government officials and stakeholders.
Other members include the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Marwan Ahmad; Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf; Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahir Muhammad Hashim; Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud; Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gwani Ali Haruna Abubakar Makoda; Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Hon. Abduljabbar Umar Garko; and Commissioner for Rural and Community Development, Hon. Abdulkadir Abdussalam.
Also on the committee are Hon. Adda’u Lawan Kutama, Special Adviser, Cabinet Office; Alhaji Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director General, Media and Publicity; Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo, Director General, Protocol; Hajiya Nana Asma’u Jibrin, Director General, Research and Documentation; Hon. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, Director General, National Productivity Center; and Hon. Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso.
Serving as Secretary of the committee is Alhaji Umar Muhammad Jalo, Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs (REPA).
The committee has been charged with ensuring a successful and memorable anniversary celebration that will reflect the administration’s commitment to people-oriented governance and sustainable development across Kano State.
