The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, will attend the 2025 Independent Newspapers Platinum Award Night scheduled to take place in Lagos next week Thursday.
Governor Yusuf will be honoured with the Independent Newspapers Platinum Award as Education Ambassador of the Year, in recognition of his remarkable achievements and far-reaching reforms in the education sector.
The award ceremony is expected to attract an array of distinguished personalities, including captains of industry, accomplished professionals, and eminent figures from various walks of life, both within and outside the country.
The Kano State Government expresses its profound appreciation to Independent Newspapers for the honour, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of Governor Yusuf’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to revitalizing education in the state.
This recognition, like several others before it, serves as an encouragement to the administration to continue utilizing public resources judiciously and transparently for the overall development of the state and the nation at large.
The 2025 Independent Newspapers Platinum Award event will also feature a public lecture titled “Free Universal Education in Nigeria: Progress and Prospects”, to be delivered by Professor Barth Nnaji.
In addition, Independent Newspapers has announced that posthumous legacy awards will be presented to three of Nigeria’s foremost nationalists Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
The ceremony will be chaired by elder statesman and former Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande, while President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, is expected to grace the occasion as Special Guest of Honour.
Other eminent personalities expected at the prestigious event include the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; and the Obi of Onitsha, His Majesty Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, among others.
