The Abba Magajin Malam Group has appointed the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, as the leader of the “Kano First” initiative, a movement aimed at promoting the development agenda of the Kano State Government and strengthening public awareness of its programmes.
The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by the group’s members to the commissioner’s office. The delegation was led by the group’s National Coordinator, Comrade Munnir Ibrahim, popularly known as Publisher.
The organization operates across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State, where it engages in community outreach and advocacy activities.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Munnir Ibrahim said the decision to appoint Waiya was based on his consistent efforts in promoting government policies and ensuring that the public is properly informed about ongoing developmental initiatives in the state.
According to him, despite the numerous projects and reforms being implemented by the Kano State Government under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, many citizens are still unaware of the scale and impact of these efforts.
He noted that the “Kano First” initiative is designed to bridge that gap by mobilizing citizens and stakeholders to support the government’s development programmes and to ensure that the achievements of the administration are effectively communicated to the people.
In his response, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya expressed appreciation to the group for the recognition and confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as a call to further strengthen efforts toward the progress of Kano State.
He stated that the philosophy of “Kano First” aligns with the vision of prioritizing the welfare, unity, and socio-economic development of the state and its people.
Waiya emphasized that the ultimate objective is to ensure improved living standards for residents of Kano State through policies that support economic growth, enhance commercial activities, and provide opportunities for citizens to thrive.
He also noted that the commendations currently being accorded to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf are well deserved, considering the administration’s commitment to fulfilling its promises and delivering meaningful development across the state.
The commissioner further disclosed that following the Eid celebrations, the group intends to roll out a series of strategic activities and public engagement programmes aimed at promoting the “Kano First” movement and highlighting the developmental strides of the Kano State Government.
